About

This blog is my random … ramblings and discussions regarding technology, gaming, coding, and the drama of humanity. Everything here, unless otherwise stated, is my opinion alone. My employer(s) (past, present, and future), friends, family, and most of the rest of the human race take no responsibility (thus receive no credit) for my opinions.

Who?

Who am I? I’m called by many names-typically obscenities-but was born David Longnecker. Dave works. :-)

At the age of eight I was intrigued by console games and wanted to design video games (RPGs). Over the years, I’ve discovered that you can’t grow up to be an astronaut, but computers are pretty cool too. In 1993, I started a technical consulting business and found two loves: web design and technology integration. Web design is a dynamic, creative avenue, while technology integration is a measurable, and profitable benefit to businesses that combines expert service with products. For the following eight years, I focused on technology integration in small and mid-sized businesses, web development, business practice ‘upgrades’, individual and classroom technology training, and curriculum development.

Since 2001, I have worked in public education in numerous technical positions. Currently (aka: today), I am responsible for the full cycle management of web technologies for internal and public consumers, but with a primary focus on student achievement. This includes development and implementation of enterprise-wide technology solutions as well as strategic planning for future needs for back office, core business (K-12 education), and public customers.

I hold a Bachelors of Science in Management and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). I’m very interested and do a great deal of research around organlizational leadership–focusing on technology and it’s role within the enterprise; not as a replacement for individuals, but as a tool to empower users. I’d love to do doctoral work on the subject, but, unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a doctoral program for business around here. Maybe some day.

Outside of work and school… or school and school… I spend my free time gaming (EQ2, FFXI), traveling when I can, and finding respite in my iPod.

Why?

Hmm, not sure why I blog. I enjoy it, actually. If nothing else, it helps ME remember what was interesting (or so I thought at the time) down the road. I also found that, especially with technical issues, blogs are a great way to share information. I’m a true believer in the concepts of knowledge sharing and hope that someone finds something here that’s useful or meaningful to them in their life, job, or whatever.
