On 28 July 2006, the Kansas Supreme Court ruled that the financial forumla had been resolved and the lawsuit was dropped… but where did that funding go? The classroom? To help the needy students as reported? Nope.
A few weeks ago, the local school district’s teachers received an excessive 11%+ salary raise, including benefits raises, and a 6%+ salary raise for service employees. With approximately 8,000 staff, it seems the new funding from the state, that the taxpayers, senators, and representatives fought so hard to straighten out, will go to create “the top five in the state for teacher salaries.” Too bad we’re not top five in performance, as well.
