ActiveReports 3.0 and SourceSafe

February 13, 2007

Just a quick note for anyone who might encounter it… SourceSafe + AR 3.0 == pain.

The issue lies in the fact that AR 3.0 uses the GlobalResources (.resx) files to store positional information relating to each of your reports (and the objects therein).  When you open a set of reports from SourceSafe, it does NOT open the corresponding (and unlock) the resource files.  You must manually “Check out for edit” those files.

If you do not, you’ll receive SEVERAL errors stating that:

Access to the path ‘%RESOURCE FILE PATH HERE %’ is denied.

can you please email activereports.support@datadynamics.com and let them know that I (issam) asked you to forward this problem to us. I don’t think we use GlobalResources the way you describe. Either way, we need to look into it as soon as possible. If you’ve already contacted our support, let me know and I’ll follow up and see what’s going on.
