Taming the squirrels at work…
Isn’t that part of everyone’s job? Taming all those darned squirrels we see everyday? Anyway, in this case, it happens to be one of our “wild” squirrels living in the bushes outside our office front door. Over the past few weeks, I’ve tried feeding him some of the corn nibblets we have set out for him and he’s slowly gotten a bit more tame. This week he finally got the guts to walk over to me… hopefully I’ll get him to eat out of my hand (and probably give me rabies) by the end of next week.
For those asking themselves “what the heck does this have to do with anything?”—absolutely nothing except that even techies need to get outside and enjoy it. I wander around outside (we’re lucky enough that our office is in what seems like a park and we’re a block away from the actual “park” of the city, which is where I tend to go and sit and read during lunch).
So, if you’re feeling stressed, can’t figure something out, put it down, go outside, and feed the squirrels. Just remember, it’s the little, fuzzy ones—not your coworkers.
