Using Java in .NET

October 22, 2007

I saw a post on Microsoft’s Coding4Fun this morning regarding using a new SourceForge project called IKVM.NET (full details) that allows you to create a Java Virtual Machine inside of .NET.  So, since our student information system will be converting to Java (from Oracle Forms and Reports… mass celebration goes here) soon, this is VERY interesting.

From first glance, it appears to simply be a series of libraries and a few executables (compilers and a launcher).

More on this coming… I’ll take a few of the Java classes we have sitting around for various things and see how they work.
