Omea Reader 2.2.1 – “Cannot get version info.”

March 7, 2008

Since I’ve been out sick for the past week, I’ve been craving news—hearing what’s going on at MIX, the newsgroups, and the latest and greatest with the ReSharper EAP trials.  My gateway to all of that is JetBrains’ Omea Reader.

I haven’t installed Omea Reader on Vista for a long time, but remember it being a hassle (the OmeaReaderLauncher.exe crashes out, you have to run OmeaReader.exe directly).

However, this time, I received another error:

To fix this, the “cure all” to Vista is required—run Omea as Administrator.  If you don’t want to run the files as Administrator, you need to grant read/write/special to the Omea Reader directories where the database and log files are kept.
